A 33-year-old businessman, Jesus Baelo, has pleaded guilty to stealing a phone valued at K14,500 in Lusaka so he could feed his children.
Baelo from Chainda compound admitted to selling the phone, which belonged to Felix Maluba, to support his two children.
He acknowledged that he had no right to sell the phone and was not authorised by the owner.
Baelo was charged with theft under Section 272 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of Zambian laws.
The incident occurred on December 19, 2024. The case has been adjourned to March 14, 2025, for the submission of written facts.
