Makinka Leaves Policemen to Join Nkana

Must read

MTN super league side Nkana have secured the services of Nkwazi coach Dennis Makinka who has joined the Kitwe giants’ technical bench as assistant coach to Ian Bakala.

Makinka who recently attained his CAF A diploma under the auspices of the South African Football Association (SAFA), joins Bakala’s backroom staff as a replacement for Sipho Mumbi.

Mumbi left Kalampa earlier this month following his appointment as head coach at Napsa Stars.

Makinka has since joined the team currently in Chipata for their preseason camp and adds to the Bakala-led technical bench that also consists of fellow assistant coach Josephat Nkhoma and Mike Poto as goalkeeper coach.

“Yes, coach Makinka is here (Chipata) with the team. They already finished everything with management and he is now the new assistant coach” a source at the club told Zambia Digest.

Makinka has left Nkwazi after steering the Police-sponsored outfit to a respectable 6th place finish last season.

Meanwhile, legendary striker Ronald “Sate Sate” Kampamba and veteran defender Donashano Malama have also been roped into the technical staff as physical trainers.

The duo, both reputable figures at the club, look set to call time on their playing careers having rejoined the record 13-time Zambian champions last season following stints with Kansanshi Dynamos and Zesco United respectively.
