Zambia national team head coach Avram Grant has named his squad for the upcoming international friendly match against Russia to be played in Moscow on Tuesday, 25th March 2025.
Grant has assembled a 19-member squad with a number of usual foreign-based call-ups not making the cut for the trip to Moscow, in most cases due to airspace restrictions between some European countries and Russia.
Fit-again Leicester City striker Patson Daka and Germany-based skipper of the side Lubambo Musonda, veteran defender Stophila Sunzu of Changchun Yatai in China, Lameck Banda who plays for US Lecce in Italy, as well as Scottish-based defender Frankie Musonda are all missing from the roaster.
Meanwhile, in-form Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder Kings Kangwa, Kabwe Warriors defender Kabaso Chongo and Tanzania-based Yanga SC duo of Clatous Chama and Kennedy Musonda are the senior members of the team that have made the cut.
Swiss-based sensations Joseph Sabobo Banda and Miguel Chaiwa are also included as the latter returns to the fold for the first time since last year in October when he got injured in the barren draw against Chad in Ndola.
Grant has also handed debut call-ups to Zanaco youngsters Dominic Kanda and Wilson Chisala following their recent eye-catching performances in the Super League.
The contingent of locally-based Chipolopolo players is expected to regroup and leave the country on Saturday and will link up with the rest of foreign-based players in Moscow.
Chipolopolo will take on Russia on Tuesday at the VTB Arena on Tuesday at 19:00 hours Zambian time.
