The US National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Kansas City Current has signed exciting young Zambian attacker Fridah Mukoma from Zesco Ndola Girls in the Zambia Women’s Super League.
The 18-year-old striker has signed a four-year deal with KC Current following her recent impressive exploits with the Zambia women’s national side.
In a statement issued on X (formerly Twitter), KC Current announced that Mukoma has since been loaned out to Chinese club Beijing Jingtan until the end of the current season.
“The Current has also signed Zambian forward Fridah Mukoma through 2028 via a transfer with ZESCO Ndola Girls that included an undisclosed transfer fee. Mukoma has been subsequently loaned to Beijing Jingtan FC through the 2025 season,” the statement by the club reads.
Mukoma becomes the fifth Copper Queens player to sign for an NWSL side, following captain Barbara Banda, Grace Chanda, and Prisca Chilufya, all of Orlando Pride, as well as Bay FC’s Rachael Kundananji.
Meanwhile, Mukoma has already announced her arrival in China in style after scoring a brace on her debut as Beijing beat Yongchuan FC earlier today.
Prior to her signing with KC Current and subsequent loan move to Beijing, Mukoma had stolen the limelight at the 2024 COSAFA Women’s Challenge, where she emerged as the top scorer with four goals for the Copper Queens.
