Victim testifies against Bishop John General

A woman who has accused John Nundwe, also known as Bishop John General, of rape testified in court, stating that she could not recall the exact time of the alleged incident and that there were no witnesses.

During cross examination ,the woman said she had invited the clergyman to her home for prayers but did not inform her husband about his visit.

Nundwe, who leads Miracle Impact Ministries International in Matero Township, is accused of raping the woman in 2023 under the pretext of conducting prayers,after several miscarriages.

In cross-examination, the woman was questioned about her medical history, including past pregnancies and miscarriages, as well as her interactions with the accused before and after the alleged incident.

She confirmed that she had communicated with Nundwe via text messages and calls, some of which were later examined in court.

Court records showed that the woman had sent several messages to the accused, seeking prayers for her ability to conceive.

She also testified that she had invited Nundwe to her home on November 22, 2023, the day she alleged the rape occurred.

When asked about the presence of witnesses, she mentioned that another individual had accompanied Nundwe to the house but did not enter the bedroom where the alleged assault took place.

She also confirmed that her husband was not at home at the time of the incident and that she had not informed him of the accused visit.

The case has been adjourned to April 7 and 8 for further proceedings.
