FAZ Regrets Disqualified Candidate’s Fracas at Football House

Must read

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) have bemoaned an incident in which failed candidate Pivoty Simwanza caused a brawl at Football House this morning.

Simwanza who lost his appeal against the invalidation of his candidature for the FAZ vice-president post, attempted to engage in a physical confrontation with incumbent president Andrew Kamanga before being stopped by security.

In a statement released this afternoon, FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga has advised candidates who have lost their appeals to utilize the normal channels to seek arbitration rather than resorting to acts of violence.

“The incident this morning (Thursday) where a prospective candidate and football administrator Pivoty Simwanza poured his anger at the FAZ president and secretariat staff is most unfortunate. Violence in this era can never be a mode of resolving conflict especially for people aspiring to lead our football,” Kamanga said.

Simwanza is among 24 out of a total of 72 candidates whose appeals were not successful after the FAZ Electoral Appeals Committee concluded presiding over the submissions.

Meanwhile, FAZ have further announced that the Electoral Appeals Committee has overturned the invalidation of four presidential aspirants who will now challenge incumbent Andrew Kamanga for the top job at Football House.

“The FAZ Electoral Appeals Committee has concluded its sittings and formally notified all applicants of its decisions on the matters presented before it. Naturally, some appeals were successful while others were thrown out,” said Kamanga.

Joining incumbent Andrew Kamanga for the chairmanship of FAZ now include, FC MUZA proprietor Keith Mweemba and Adrian Kashala as the most notable challengers.

Francis Hafwiti and Emmanuel Munaile are the two others completing the list in the running for FAZ president.

The FAZ elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held in Livingstone on March 29 at Fairmount Hotel.
