Legal Troubles Mount for Incarcerated Former Minister Bowman Lusambo Over K375,000 Lawsuit

Must read

Incarcerated former Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo has been hit with yet another legal battle, this time over a K375,000 lawsuit filed by Isoka Member of Parliament Marjory Nakaponda.

The case revolves around a failed house sale in Silverest, Chongwe, which has now landed Lusambo in fresh legal trouble.

According to court documents, Nakaponda and Lusambo entered into a contract on April 28, 2024, for the sale of a house in Silverest at an agreed price of K600,000.

The MP claims she made an initial payment of K375,000 toward the purchase.

However, when she reached out to settle the balance on June 5, 2024, hoping to take full possession of the property, Lusambo allegedly assured her that he would collect the remaining amount within a week.

But to her surprise, he soon became unreachable, ignoring calls and avoiding communication altogether.

Frustrated by Lusambo’s silence, Nakaponda issued a demand letter on October 14, 2024, requesting a refund of the amount she had already paid.

Despite promising to return the money, Lusambo allegedly failed to do so, leaving the MP with no choice but to seek legal redress.

In her lawsuit in the Lusaka High Court, Nakaponda accuses the former minister of dishonest conduct that has caused her financial loss and emotional distress. She is now demanding a full refund of K375,000.

She is also claiming damages for breach of contract, interest on the amount owed and legal costs.
