A 41-year-old flight sergeant at the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) has pleaded not guilty to sexually abusing his biological daughter.
George Mulinganiza, based at Twin Palm base in Lusaka, allegedly defiled and impregnated his biological daughter, a minor, between August 1 and 31, 2024.
According to a police statement, the minor was 28 weeks pregnant when the matter was reported earlier this month.
During his appearance on Wednesday at the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Kawama Mwamfuli, Mulinganiza denied the charges, which are contrary to Section 159 (1) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of Zambian laws.
The trial is set for March 12 and 17.
The state prosecutor, Joe Phiri, opposed Mulinganiza’s bail application, citing concerns that he might interfere with witnesses, including the victim’s biological mother.
Mulinganiza’s lawyer argued that the victim had been moved to a secure location and that the accused would fulfill any conditions set by the court.
The court ultimately refused bail, citing the risk of witness tampering.
