UKA reacts to Tonse Alliance call for collaboration

Must read

United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) chairperson for media, Saboi Imboela says the newly formed Tonse Alliance has nothing to offer aside endorsing former President Edgar Lungu as its presidential candidate in the 2026 general elections.

Imboela said in an interview that the recent decision by some members of the Tonse Alliance to leave UKA and form the People’s Pact where they also endorsed Edgar Lungu’s candidacy is evidence of how disorganized the groupings are.

She explains that an invitation for a collaboration with the Tonse Alliance could only work if the group rejoined UKA and reopened the process to choose the alliance leader and not impose Lungu.

Imboela has, however, not ruled out the possibility of the two alliances working together in the future but is shocked that the same former UKA members who left following a minor disagreement could reach out for a collaboration.

The Tonse Alliance has endorsed former President Edgar Lungu as its 2026 presidential candidate and extended an olive branch to the United Kwacha Alliance for a possible collaboration going into the next general elections.
