In a recent courtesy call, United States Defence Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Yan committed to strengthening military collaboration with the Zambia National Service (ZNS). During the meeting with ZNS Lieutenant General (Eng) Maliti Solochi, Lt. Col. Yan emphasized the importance of exploring new opportunities for joint efforts to enhance military ties.
Lt. Col. Yan’s office will work closely with the ZNS to identify strategic areas for improvement, aiming to better address national security demands as they arise. He highlighted the necessity of ongoing training and capacity-building to improve the military capabilities of ZNS officers and reaffirmed his dedication to reinforcing the longstanding partnership between the US and Zambia’s Defence forces.
Lt. Gen. Solochi expressed appreciation for the strong ties between the two countries, noting that many Zambian officers have benefited from training programs in the US. He acknowledged the reaffirmation of military cooperation through the Defence Attaché’s visit and thanked the US for its support, including contributions from PEPFAR programs and the construction of essential health facilities.
